Room allocations are made by the organiser. Every effort will be made to accommodate reasonable requests, but these cannot be guaranteed.

Dormitory guests should expect to share sleeping and bathroom facilities.

Guests are responsible for treating the accommodation respectfully. Any damage caused deliberately or through negligence may be charged to the guest responsible.

4. Programme

Every effort will be made to deliver the published programme.

However, circumstances sometimes change. Novice to Novelist reserves the right to alter the timetable, substitute speakers, amend workshop topics, or make other reasonable changes where necessary.

Such changes do not constitute grounds for a refund.

5. Speaker Sessions

Workshop content represents the views and experience of individual speakers.

While every effort is made to provide accurate, useful and professional information, attendees remain responsible for deciding how to apply any advice to their own writing or publishing journey.

6. Dietary Requirements, Allergies and Accessibility

Any dietary requirements, food allergies, intolerances, or accessibility needs must be communicated to the organiser at the time of booking, or as soon as reasonably possible afterwards.

We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate dietary and accessibility requirements where these have been notified in advance. However, due to the nature of catering arrangements, we cannot guarantee that all dietary needs or allergen-free environments can be accommodated.

Attendees with severe allergies or medical conditions remain responsible for managing their own health and should carry any necessary medication, including emergency medication where appropriate.

Failure to notify us of dietary or accessibility requirements in advance may mean that we are unable to meet those needs during the event.

7. Behaviour

AuthorFest aims to provide a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment for all attendees.

Participants are expected to behave respectfully towards fellow attendees, speakers, venue staff, and organisers at all times.

The organiser reserves the right to ask any participant to leave the event without refund if their behaviour is abusive, discriminatory, threatening, illegal, or significantly disrupts the experience of others.

8. Alcohol

Alcohol may be available during some social activities as part of the retreat programme.

Attendees are expected to drink responsibly and behave respectfully at all times. The organiser reserves the right to refuse service or ask any attendee whose behaviour is adversely affected by alcohol to leave the event without refund.

9. Personal Property

Attendees are responsible for their own belongings.

Neither Novice to Novelist nor Les Cabosses accepts responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal possessions during the event.

10. Photography and Media

Photographs and short video clips may be taken during AuthorFest for use on the Novice to Novelist and Les Cabosses websites, social media channels, and future promotional material.

If you would prefer not to appear in photographs or videos, please let the organiser know before the event begins, and every reasonable effort will be made to respect your wishes.

For more details, see the Privacy Policy.

11. Liability

Participation in AuthorFest is entirely at the attendee’s own risk.

Except where required by law, Novice to Novelist and Les Cabosses accept no liability for personal injury, illness, loss, damage, or expense arising from attendance at the event.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such liability cannot legally be excluded.

12. Cancellation or Changes by the Organiser

In the unlikely event that AuthorFest has to be cancelled, attendees will be offered a refund in accordance with the published Refund Policy.

If circumstances beyond the organiser’s control require changes to the programme, venue, speakers, or timetable, reasonable efforts will be made to deliver an equivalent experience.

13. Force Majeure

Novice to Novelist nor Les Cabosses shall not be liable for failure to deliver the event, or any part of it, due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, natural disasters, fire, pandemic restrictions, government action, industrial disputes, or venue closure.

Where possible, alternative arrangements or refunds will be considered in accordance with the Refund Policy.

14. Acceptance

By purchasing a ticket, attendees confirm that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions together with the AuthorFest Refund Policy.
