The Novel Mentorship
A year of personalised editorial and writing support

You don't have to write your novel alone.
Writing a novel can be exhilarating. It can also be confusing, frustrating and, at times, bloody difficult.
You might know the story you want to tell but not quite know how to make it work. You might be halfway through and wondering whether your plot is holding together. You might be wrestling with characters who refuse to behave, a sagging middle, a point of view that doesn't quite work, or simply that horrible nagging question: Is any of this actually any good?
The Novel Mentorship gives you a professional editor and writing coach in your corner for an entire year.
We'll work together on your novel, at your pace, focusing on whatever you and your manuscript need at each stage. There's no generic curriculum and no one-size-fits-all formula. The support, feedback, and exercises I give you are shaped around your writing, your goals, and the book you're trying to write.
What does The Novel Mentorship include?
For twelve months, we'll work together on your novel — from wherever you are when we begin to wherever the story takes us.
Every mentorship is different because every writer and every novel is different. Our sessions might involve untangling a plot problem, digging deeper into a character, working on dialogue, structure, point of view or pacing, looking closely at a piece of your writing, or figuring out what needs to happen next. Each month, you'll receive:
Over the course of the year, that's 18 hours of private mentoring, feedback on up to 84,000 words of your novel, 12 detailed editorial assessments, 12 personalised workbooks, and weekly support to keep you moving forward.
This isn't a writing course.
There are no modules to work through, no generic exercises, and no predetermined list of things you ought to learn.
Your writing tells us what we work on next.
If your characters aren't quite coming alive on the page, we'll work on characterisation. If the middle of your novel is sagging, we'll look at structure and pacing. If you're struggling with point of view, dialogue, description, conflict, confidence and mindset, or anything else, that's where we'll focus.
And if everything is going brilliantly? I won't invent a problem just so I've got something to teach you.
The Novel Mentorship is designed to evolve alongside your novel. Every editorial assessment, workbook, and mentoring session is based on what you've actually written and what will help you become a better writer.

Is The Novel Mentorship right for you?
The Novel Mentorship is a significant commitment — from both of us. I'll invest time, thought, and energy in your novel every month, and I want to work with writers who are ready to do the same.
You're serious about writing your novel.
You don't need to be writing thousands of words every week, but you do need to be willing to make your writing a priority and keep moving forward.
You want to develop as a writer, not just improve one manuscript.
We'll absolutely work on making your novel stronger, but I'll also help you understand why something is or isn't working so you can take those skills into everything you write next.
You're open to feedback.
I won't tell you how to write your book, and the final decisions will always be yours. But I will ask questions, point out problems, and sometimes challenge you to try something differently.
You're willing to do the work between sessions.
The personalised exercises aren't homework for homework's sake. They're designed around your writing and the areas that will help you progress.
You're looking for someone to tell you exactly what to write.
This is your novel. My job is to help you make it the best version of your story, not turn it into mine.
You want an editor to fix the manuscript for you.
I'll give you detailed feedback, suggestions, and guidance, but you'll be the one making the changes and doing the writing.
You're not in a position to give your writing regular time and attention right now.
Life happens, and there will inevitably be slower months. But this mentorship works best when you're able to engage with the process throughout the year.
You don't need to be an experienced writer. You just need to be ready to write, learn, and keep going.
